Immersion Week

The goal of Immersion Week is to provide a program for 20 Syracuse University sophomores interested in gaining an understanding of the opportunities, culture and inner workings of the capital region to include citizenship, public service, nonprofit management, and doing business in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. This is a week-long program where students will network with alumni and employers and experience life in the D.C. area from Sunday, March 11 – Friday, March 16, 2018. The trip is expense-paid and includes your travel from Syracuse University to D.C. and back, lodging and most meals. It is highly recommended that you attend an information session.

Information sessions will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 114 HL, at 11:15 a.m.; and Thursday, October 12, 114 HL, at 4:15 p.m. to learn more about this experience and the day-to-day schedule for the trip in March.

The deadline for submitting an application is Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:59pm. All completed applications with resume and response questions will be reviewed by a selection committee. You will be notified by December 5, 2017 if you have been selected to attend this program.

Students will be required to attend a professional development and informational workshop on Friday, February 9, 2pm - 4pm, prior to leaving on March 11.

Please note: this trip begins Sunday, March 11 around 7am and ends on Friday, March 16 around midnight. Our daily schedule includes mandatory programmed activities from approximately 7am – 9pm daily. This trip involves 4-5 alumni / employer visits per day and includes transportation via chartered bus, D.C. Metro, and walking. Students should be ready to walk and stand, sit and listen, and engage in question and answer sessions and other events with alumni.
